A man held at Franklin Correctional Facility in Malone, New York, was repeatedly kicked and punched in the head by another person during a dormitory fight on October 22, 2026, according to the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association. He was taken to a hospital and then to Albany Medical Center, where he died on October 24 of a traumatic brain injury. The union says State Police were notified and are investigating the death.
