Sherri Cook
Sherri Cook, 43, of Whitesburg, Kentucky, was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield on May 20, 2022. According to WYMT, jail staff had her strapped into a safety chair before they found her unresponsive just after 7 p.m. WCYB reports that jail officials found her unresponsive shortly after 7 p.m., and she was taken to a hospital in Wise County, where she was pronounced dead. Her body was sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for autopsy, and the Virginia State Police investigation is ongoing.
