Dr. Buchanan was put to death in the electric chair at Sing Sing prison in New York. Lawyers Colonel George W. Gibbons and A. H. Butts said they would keep pursuing an appeal to the United States Supreme Court as though the client were still alive. They said they might sue the state and the warden if the court ruled in their favor.
