Billy Adams was the son of Sallie Schultz, who said he was working hard to clean himself up and that she had worked hard to help him. According to a 7 Action News investigation, he died in 2017 after hanging himself in a cell at the Wayne County jail, following ten days on a ventilator before his family chose to end life support. The investigation reported that he had been placed on a mental health ward in a suicide-proof paper gown, but that deputies did not take his socks, which he used to make a noose. His mother has hired a lawyer to look into his death.
