Yusuf Abuzir
Yusuf Abuzir, 64, was held at Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois. Prosecutors said his cellmate beat him in his cell on January 25, 2013, and that he died of his injuries in the prison infirmary on February 25, 2013. Court records include a videotaped confession by the cellmate, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity and is now held in a mental health facility.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. A videotaped confession from cellmate Donald Hazzard and court records say he beat Abuzir, who died of his injuries a month later.
