Yanko Romero
Yanko Romero, a man from Fort Myers, died while held at the Treasure Coast Forensic Treatment Center in Indiantown, Florida, in early September 2025. A court had found him incompetent to stand trial, and his attorney told WINK News that he died by suicide. The State Attorney's Office confirmed the death and dropped the pending case because of it, and the death remains under investigation.
