Wood Ambrose
Wood Ambrose, a Black man, was held in the jail at Prentiss, Mississippi. According to The Lexington Advertiser, an early-morning mob broke into the jail, overpowered the jailer and took him. The Macon Beacon reported that he fought desperately before the mob shot him to death, firing more than 100 bullets into his body.
