Wille Washington, 25, died in March 2024 while held at the Adult Correctional Institutions, a Rhode Island state prison. The Rhode Island Department of Corrections said the cause of death was still unknown as of July 2024 because the medical examiner's report was pending. His family and the advocacy group Stop Torture RI say he had body pain, vomiting and could not walk for days, and that he was not seen by a doctor until a third medical emergency call, when it was too late.
