Willie Steele
Willie Steele, 49, was stabbed once in the torso at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, according to prison spokeswoman Pam James. A correctional officer found him at 4:33 a.m. on November 6, 2024, while he was doing facility work in an area usually used for people who have been disciplined. He died about three hours later at a hospital in Michigan City. The prison said the circumstances were still being pieced together and that a suspect was placed in restrictive housing while the investigation continues.
