William Morrison

52 years old · died July 8, 2021 · Maui Community Correctional Center, Maui County, Hawaii

William Robert Morrison, 52, died by suicide at the Maui Community Correctional Center on July 8, 2021, according to documents filed with the office of Gov. David Ige. Those documents said additional funding and mental health staff were needed to improve mental health services at the jail. The Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation lists his death in its public notification of deaths for 2021. A later Honolulu Civil Beat report, based on a partially redacted death report, described a man in his 50s who died by suicide at the Maui jail in early July 2021, and said the department had not publicly identified him at that time.
