William Keller
William Keller, 28, was a father of seven, and his mother, Margaret George, said his children were left without their dad. He died in January 2018 of a fentanyl overdose in the work-release unit of Cumberland County Prison, where he shared a cell with another man. Police said the fentanyl was smuggled in by that cellmate. The cellmate said he tried to get help and that the prison lacked the facilities to save Keller's life, a account the family disputed.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose (disputed). Police and prosecutors say fentanyl smuggled in by his cellmate caused the overdose, while at sentencing the cellmate said he tried to get help and the prison lacked facilities to save Keller, a claim the family disputes.
Reported by: Police and prosecutors; His cellmate, at sentencing (witnesses); His family (family or their lawyers).
