William Hayden Schuck
William Hayden Schuck, 22, died in 2022 after about six days in a San Diego County jail, according to a wrongful death lawsuit brought by his family. The family says he died of dehydration and untreated withdrawal symptoms that led to heart failure, and that jail and medical staff could have prevented his death by giving him the treatment he needed. In July 2024 a federal judge dismissed one nurse practitioner from the case, while claims against the county and the company that employed the medical staff remain. The allegations have not been decided in court.
