William Gene Anderson
William Gene Anderson, 65, of Hickory, died on February 8, 2022, at the Catawba County Detention Facility in Newton, North Carolina. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office said he developed breathing trouble around 7:30 p.m. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death, and the state medical examiner had not released a cause or manner of death at the time of reporting.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office reported that he showed signs of respiratory distress and that staff and EMS tried to revive him, but the cause and manner of death remain pending with the State Bureau of Investigation and the medical examiner.
