William Fenton
William Fenton, 74, was held at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail in Portsmouth, Virginia, before trial. He had been in end-of-life care for several months, moving between the jail and Maryview Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since January 27, 2021. He died at the hospital on February 4, 2021. Jail officials said they made best efforts to secure a compassionate release for him, and that those efforts were not successful. A Norfolk court decides whether a release would pose a safety risk.
