Executed
Will Herrin
Will Herrin was hanged on November 27, 1908, at Saluda, South Carolina, in an execution carried out by the state. According to a special dispatch in The Times and Democrat, he was pronounced dead about ten minutes after the trap was sprung, and he was buried at the county poor house in a county-furnished coffin. The Rev. D. H. Crossland visited him in his cell on the morning of the execution and held a short service. The article says the hanging was carried out with little preparation and that many people watched despite efforts to keep it from the public.
