Walter Peeler
Walter Peeler, a 17-year-old, was held at the county jail in Ada, Oklahoma. A news report of the time, based on a dispatch, said that on April 10, 1909, a masked mob cut the power wires, took four men from the jail to a barn nearby, and hanged them. The report places Walter among those held, and it is uncertain from the garbled text whether he was one of the four hanged.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Manitowoc Pilot, reporting from a news dispatch, says a masked mob broke into the county jail and hanged Walter Peeler from a barn near the jail; the OCR text is too garbled to confirm that he was among the four men hanged.
Reported by: The Manitowoc Pilot (reporting from a news dispatch) (reporters).
