Walter James Matthews
Walter James Matthews was 49 years old. He had been hospitalized since July with a pre-existing medical condition while held at the Duval County jail in Jacksonville, Florida, and he died in November 2023 at a local hospital. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said he may have had a medical episode related to a prior condition and that the medical examiner would determine the cause of death. A later report attributed his death to natural causes, complications of AIDS, according to the medical examiner's office.
