Walter Dubuc
Walter Dubuc was 17 years old when the State of Washington executed him by hanging at the state penitentiary in Walla Walla on April 15, 1932. Accounts of his age varied, and he said he was 16. He was put to death alongside an older co-defendant in the first double execution in state history. A petition with 6,400 signatures, gathered by a member of the National Prison Survey Association, asked Governor Roland Hartley to spare his life, but the sentence was carried out.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. Objection to the execution: a petition with 6,400 signatures asked the governor to commute his sentence, and accounts say he was a teenager (he claimed to be 16).
