Virgil Polkinghorn Jr., 47, died on March 4, 2022, while held at the Dubuque County Jail in Iowa. The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in his cell on a Friday afternoon and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office said it is investigating, and the manner and cause of death are pending an autopsy.
