Vijay Ramure Lipscomb
Vijay Ramure Lipscomb, 33, was from Brighton, Alabama, and had been held at the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer since December 2019. In April 2020 he was found unresponsive in a cell and died while being taken to UAB West Hospital. An autopsy found no trauma, and according to the sheriff's office it showed methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl in his system; his death was ruled accidental.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose. The coroner's autopsy found methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl in his system and ruled the death accidental, after video showed him inhaling an unknown substance before he was found unresponsive.
