Victor Morales Jr., 50, of Zion, had been held at the Lake County Jail since October. On Saturday, February 18, 2023, jail staff found him having a seizure in his cell that afternoon. The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office said surveillance video showed him walking into the cell just before he collapsed, and that officials reported no signs of trauma or foul play. Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The coroner's autopsy found underlying medical conditions but no significant injuries, and the final cause and manner of death await further testing.
