Valen Long
Valen Long, 26, died on May 31, 2025, after being held at the Harris County Jail in downtown Houston. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said he was one of several people who allegedly smoked an unknown substance around 12:30 a.m. and lost consciousness, and that other people in the jail alerted detention officers. He was taken to LBJ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 1:50 a.m. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences had not released a cause of death as of the reporting, and the Houston Police Department and the sheriff's internal affairs division were investigating; the autopsy is pending.
