Uriel Otero
Uriel Otero, 22, was held at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, California. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says another man held at the prison attacked him in a housing unit dayroom on July 29, 2022, and that he was taken to the prison's treatment area and pronounced dead about an hour later. CDCR is investigating the death as a homicide together with the Del Norte County District Attorney's Office and coroner, who will determine the official cause of death. The other man was placed in segregated housing while the investigation proceeds, and no motive has been reported.
