Died in custody
Name not reported
A Black man whose name is not recorded in the 1875 accounts was held at the Santa Rosa County prison for more than a year without trial, according to the Savannah Daily Advertiser and New Orleans Bulletin. Those reports say a mob took him from custody on the night of July 10, 1875, the same night it took a man named Carroll, and lynched him. The coalition says these accounts were biased and cannot be fully verified.
