A man who was in the custody of officers was taken from them by a mob near Austin, Mississippi, and killed, according to a brief Mineral Point Tribune report published June 23, 1887. The mob seized him from the officers holding him and lynched him. He is remembered here by the date and place of his death, which are all the report gives.
