One of nine Black people being taken from Cat Island to the Marianna jail by Sheriff Riddick and his posse in Lee County, Arkansas. An armed band of white men took the group from the officers after a struggle and hanged them from a sycamore tree. The mob took these people from the custody of the sheriff's posse and killed them.
