A 37-year-old man from Evansville was found hanging in his cell at the Rock County Jail on a Sunday afternoon in February 2022, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release. The release says another person held at the jail alerted guards, and that he was taken by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition, where he died on Wednesday. The sheriff's office describes the death as an apparent suicide attempt and says it is investigating the in-custody death. The man's name had not been released, and the case will be reviewed by the Wisconsin Office of Detention Facilities.
