A 44-year-old man died on August 21, 2024, while held at the Pennington County Jail in Rapid City, South Dakota. According to KOTA, a correctional officer found him hanging in his cell during a round around 3:30 a.m. The Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death, and his name had not been released at the time of reporting so that his family could be notified.
