The person died while held at the Department of Corrections prison in Susupe, Northern Mariana Islands. According to the Saipan Tribune, a corrections officer found them unresponsive in their cell at lunchtime on November 11, 2019, and they were taken to the Commonwealth Health Center, where they were pronounced dead. Police had not said what caused the death. The Department of Public Safety said the case remains open while next of kin are notified.
