The person, 26 years old, was held at Post 25 Alpha, a Department of Corrections facility on Guam. On May 17, 2024, they complained of pain and asked a DOC officer for help. The Guam Fire Department took them to Naval Hospital, where they were pronounced dead just before midnight. DOC Director Fred Bordallo Jr. said the agency is treating the death as an in-custody death, has notified the Guam Police Department, opened an internal investigation and will request an autopsy to determine the cause, and said DOC does not have a full medical history for them.
