On July 26, 1895, five men held at an Arkansas state prison attempted a break, according to the Salt Lake Herald. During the attempt a guard fired and killed a man the paper named as Wallace McXeill. Another man, named Turner, was fatally injured in the same incident.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by staff. A guard shot and killed a man during a break attempt by five men held in a state prison.
