He was one of seven men held in a Georgia jail in June 1905 whom a mob took from the jail and killed. A Salt Lake Herald report published June 30, 1905, says the mob shot him. The mob's action is the only account of his death that the report gives.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Salt Lake Herald reported that a mob shot him after he was taken from the jail.
