Two Black men were held in a Georgia jail when a mob took them out and killed them by burning, according to a 1904 Deseret Evening News editorial. The editorial says the mob acted despite the presence of militia, and that the governor was absent at the time. A guard officer was court-martialed and dismissed, the paper reports, but a grand jury declined to indict the people who took part in the lynching.
