A woman died on October 19, 2026, while in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections at Pulaski State Prison in Pulaski County, Georgia. The department said she died of complications from tuberculosis. According to the report, she had been transferred from the McRae's Women's Diagnostic Facility to Pulaski State Prison, became acutely ill, and was taken to a hospital on October 3. The department said it is doing contact tracing, testing exposed staff and people held at the prison, and placing dorms under quarantine.
