A man and a woman were detained by a group of men on a road near the home of a man who had been killed. After an inquest, they were handed over to a constable to be taken to jail. A crowd of friends and neighbors of the dead man stopped the constable at the Winterscat bridge, and around midnight they took the two people and lynched them.
