A woman held at the York County Detention Center in South Carolina was found unresponsive in her cell shortly before 8 a.m. on September 10, 2023, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital at 3 p.m. The York County Sheriff's Office said a preliminary investigation indicates she had attempted to take her own life before she was discovered.
