A 48-year-old man held at the York County Jail, which was holding him for Williamsburg County, told jail staff on Saturday night that he was not feeling well. The York County Sheriff's Office said medical staff sent him to an area hospital, where he died on December 10, 2024. The sheriff asked the State Law Enforcement Division to conduct an independent investigation, and the man's name had not been released.
