A 53-year-old man was being held at the Las Animas County Jail in Trinidad, Colorado, when he died on March 25, 2018. Detention staff found him unconscious and unresponsive that morning, and according to the reports, staff and EMS tried to resuscitate him before the county coroner pronounced him dead at about 8:15 a.m. The Las Animas County Sheriff's Office and Trinidad Police Department investigated, and the cause of death was listed as unknown pending an autopsy. His identity was being withheld at the time of reporting.
