A person held at Lieber Correctional Institution in Ridgeville, South Carolina, died on Friday, June 2, 2017. The South Carolina Department of Corrections said the person was found unresponsive in their cell that afternoon and did not release the name while family was being notified. The Dorchester County Coroner's Office later ruled the death a suicide, and the State Law Enforcement Division and the coroner's office were investigating.
