The Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office said a person held at the Williamsburg County Detention Center was found unresponsive in a cell on the morning of May 20, 2023. The sheriff's office said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death. The sheriff's office said the agency will release no further information while that investigation continues.
