A 42-year-old man whose name had not been released was held at the Colleton County Detention Center in South Carolina. He was found unresponsive in his cell on July 24, 2025, and was airlifted to a trauma center, where he died on August 2. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate and is conducting an internal administrative review. No cause of death has been stated, and the coroner had not yet released his identity.
