Died in jail or a lockup
Name not reported
A Black man, whose name and age the wire report does not give, was held in a Georgia jail in July 1922 when a mob took him from the sheriff early one morning and lynched him. According to the Madison Daily Leader, he was the second of two Black men taken in this way. The brief item does not say whether the sheriff resisted, gave up the keys or handed him over, and the text is partly garbled.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
