A woman held with her husband in Ouray, Colorado, in January 1884 was killed by a mob. According to a Denver dispatch printed in the Narragansett Herald, a band of masked men overpowered the sheriff's guard at the hotel where the couple were held, then took her outside the town limits and hanged her from the ridge pole of a vacant cabin. The Superior Times reported that neighbors took the couple from officers and hanged them, and that she died before her husband. The two accounts agree on the mob's action but give no name for her.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A Denver dispatch printed in the Herald says masked men overpowered the sheriff's guard at the hotel and hanged her outside town.
