On August 26, 1895, according to a Santa Fe Daily New Mexican report, a mob took one of four people from a jail at about 2 o'clock in the morning and hanged them in the jail yard. The report's text is damaged, so the person's name, the facility and its location cannot be read. The paper's account does not say whether jail staff resisted the mob or handed the person over.
