A Black man held in the guard house in Luray, Hammond County, was taken from custody by a mob and lynched on the Monday of the week of November 23, 1908, according to the Dakota County Herald. His name is not recorded in the account. The paper does not describe how the mob got in or whether the guards resisted or handed him over.
