A telegram from Atkinson printed in the Omaha Daily Bee reported that Ralph Hills and his son were hanged near Brush Creek in Holt County, Nebraska, in the early hours of July 1, 1894. The telegram said officers were holding the two men when settlers took them and hanged them. The telegram had not been confirmed when it was published.
