A Black man held in a jail near Manchester, Tennessee, was taken from the jail by a mob and lynched, according to a Nashville dispatch dated November 5, 1881. The Helena Weekly Herald printed the dispatch on November 10, 1881. The mob killed him after taking him from the custody of the jail.
