A 31-year-old man died at the Pierce County Jail in Washington on May 16, 2025. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department, through Deputy Carly Cappetto, said he had a medical emergency from a previous health condition around 5:25 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m. The sheriff's office said he alerted staff himself.
