A man named Desantis, whose first name is unknown, was hanged by judicial order on the gallows in Marion, Williamson County, Illinois, on February 11, 1921. A 1924 newspaper report said he had earlier confessed, and linked that confession to later doubts about the 1915 Johnston City lynching. The report describes those doubts but does not set out what they were or how they bore on his own case.
