According to The Weiser Signal, on May 31, 1895, three Black men were being transported to a jail in Florida when about 50 masked men seized them from the guards. The mob took the men into a swamp, where the three men were killed. A fourth man was beaten and ordered to leave the area.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Weiser Signal reported that about 50 masked men took three Black men from guards while they were being transported to a Florida jail and killed them in a swamp.
